Maple Ridge Park

On the 6th day of rain, the sun came out at 3pm!  It was such a joyous moment that we had to go outside and go for a walk someplace that the trails hadn’t completely washed away.  We headed over to Maple Ridge Park for a little stroll.  It has fairly level trails, a lot paved, and many spots to stop and watch the fish run.  All in all we were out for a whole hour without getting rained on – whooohoooo!  And yes, we did see the fish going upstream.  A local fellow let us know that yes, the water level is still quite low (even with the last 6 days of rain).   Late October is spawning season for Coho, Chinook, Chum, and Pink Salmon.  What we saw were fish maybe 18 to 24 inches long, and no, I couldn’t identify any of them (unless labelled for me in a grocery store!)

It felt like we were playing Where's Waldo with the fish - plenty there if you can spot them!
