Cobham was about a 40 minute drive from the airport, along multilane motorways (which is what they call highways here.) It is a village with a lot of cottages in a tranquil setting. More or less. We attempted to go downtown to walk along and see the shops, but we couldn’t find any parking!! So our tour of downtown was actually just us circling around the whole town two or three times trying to find the elusive parking spot. So we did get a feel for the town – without the temptation to actually buy (more) things, which have to somehow fit into our luggage!
It may be a fairly small place, but yet there is an International School here (translation – American School), as there is a number of expats living in the area. Cobham has been nicknamed the Beverly Hills of Britian (according to Google). I wanted to take a tour down some of the streets that are known for its very, very, expensive real estate – you know, 4 million pounds and up! What we found was there were no sidewalks along the roads where I wanted to play I Spy in those expensive residential areas, and the roads were much too narrow for pulling over to have a look around. Plus everyone has hedges, or walls, and gates across the driveways!

So I attempted to take photos as we were passing by. I got a lot of pictures of.. a tree… A hedge…. A closed gate…. The garbage bins… But sometimes – I could see a house!
